Shree Swaminarayan Mandir London

The Mandir (temple) in Kingsbury is the principal Mandir in the south of England of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan – the worldwide centre for spiritual, cultural and social welfare, based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The Organisation was founded by Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa, the founding Acharya of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi – the divine office of Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
While principally a place of worship, the Mandir and surrounding facilities that make up Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Complex play host to a range of cultural, artistic, sporting, educational and charitable activities, all inspired by His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj, the current sovereign of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi.
As well as being the reverential leader of many thousands of people around the world, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj is acclaimed as being the “Ultimate Humanitarian” due to the charitable projects that He has instigated. He has inspired the establishment of numerous centres around the world, akin to the Mandir in Kingsbury.
The Mandir was inaugurated during a magnificent festival in August 2014 in the divine presence of Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury operates under the auspices of a registered UK charity

City Hindus Network is collecting jackets and coats for people in need

City Hindus Network is working with Wrap Up London and collecting coats for people in need. We need the coats in the back of your wardrobe that you don’t fancy wearing, that have gotten a little snug, or simply just your old coats. We want them all, to help keep London warm this year.
We will be collecting coats at our Diwali Stall in Diwali in Trafalgar Square on the 16th October, at our Diwali ball on the 4th of November and assisting Wrap Up London at various collections at underground stations. Once all the spare coats have been collected they are taken to the warehouses, sorted and graded. CHNs sorting date is set for 19th of November. The coats are then collected by over 110 organisations, which help a range of people in need including the homeless, elderly, refugees, women who have fled domestic violence and children in poverty.
We believe #EveryDayIsSewaDay so although we start of this project on Sewa Day we are organising a number of Sewa events for the year. Last year we had homeless feedings and organised a day trip for the children from LCT charity. This year we will be having homeless feedings, organising day trips for people in need, community and environmental projects. Our upcoming projects include teaching people about Diwali and Hinduism in our stall at Diwali in Trafalgar Square and a large scale homeless feeding for 500 people.

For this years Sewa day NHSF Hull will be holding a couple events; volunteering at a charity shop and at a homeless shelter.

Volunteering at a charity shop on the 16th October (Sunday), which will involve helping set up new advertising campaigns to raise awareness of current world (and local) issues. The aim will be to encourage sales and donations within the shop by interacting with customers in different (perhaps extravagant) ways and by making the store appearance more appealing.

In addition we will be aiding a homeless shelter over 2 days (19-20 Oct) (the shelter opens only on these days). This will involve serving food to the homeless, providing donations if and where possible, whilst also providing moral support. This can be done by simply talking and conversing with those that are less fortunate. There will also be the opportunity to travel with the organising party to check up on the homeless around the city and to ensure they have basic amenities such as blankets and water.
