Although the principal of aim of Sewa Day is to give people a chance to give back to the community through volunteering on a single day, the ambitious aim of the charity is to eventually reach out to more than a million individuals across the globe.
To meet this ambition, Sewa Day needs to raise funds to help extend the initiatives that our volunteers can undertake.
Fundraise for Sewa Day
You can organise a fundraising event like a coffee morning, lunch or dinner on behalf of Sewa Day. All that we ask is that your event does not clash with Sewa Day itself (usually held in October each year) as we reserve this date for people to give their TIME. Please contact us for help and support or if you need a representative from Sewa Day to come and speak at your event.
Nominate Sewa Day as your supported charity
Many companies regularly fundraise for charities and Sewa Day is a registered charity so please feel free to nominate us as a supported charity for your company. All we ask is that you advise us in advance so we can help promote your event.
Donate directly and join our legacy List
You can donate directly to Sewa Day. Cheques can be made payable to ‘Sewa Day’ and sent to 110 High Street, Edgware, Middlesex HA8 7HF. Or you can transfer funds to us directly at Account Name: Sewa Day, Sort Code: 40-23-13, Account No: 22206528. Alternatively you can donate online using Paypal.
Donations above £1000 will be recognised on the Sewa Day legacy list (with your permission). This is an excellent way to commemorate and remember the wishes of a loved one
How will donations be used?
Sewa Day is a Charity Registered in England & Wales (No: 1146848) and all the administrative work is currently undertaken by volunteers. This means that all donations are used for charitable purposes.
All Sewa Day projects must be based on at least one of the three guiding principles which are: to relieve hardship and poverty; help the environment or bring a little joy.
No fund-raising is required or permitted on Sewa Day itself which means that all resources are from donated income collected throughout the year. In addition, our outreach work needs collateral like booklets, posters, banners, T-shirts and other promotional material. We use funds to train volunteers to spread the Sewa Day message in schools across the globe and we host the Sewa Pioneers Awards to recognise excellence in volunteering.
Sewa Day has grown exponentially since it started in 2010, from 5,000 volunteers in the first year to 75,000 volunteers taking part in 2013. The Social Impact report published by the Economic Policy group stated that Sewa Day 2012 generated an economic benefit £2.60 for every £1 invested in it, an estimated £11.7 million of value to Britain alone.
We are grateful to the thousands of people who give their time in selfless service (sewa) including a host of celebrities, presenters, donors and supporters. Thank You.
